Dr. Rayenda Brahmana is a Lecturer in Finance and Business Analytics at Deakin University and Lancaster University Indonesia. With more than 11 years of teaching experience across the United Kingdom, Bahrain, and Malaysia, he brings extensive international expertise and a strong commitment to accessible, engaging, and practice‑oriented education.
Prior to joining Deakin and Lancaster University Indonesia, Dr. Brahmana held several leadership and academic roles, including:
- Director, UNIMAS Business, Economics, and Finance Forecasting Centre
- Head of Professional Continuous Excellent Learning Unit, Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS
- Head of Internationalization Unit, Faculty of Economics and Business, UNIMAS
- External Curriculum Assessor for multiple universities in Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
As of January 2026, Dr. Brahmana is ranked among the Top 10 Indonesian Economists according to the RePEc global ranking system (Reference: https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.indonesia.html).
His expertise is backed by his recognition as a UK Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Certified Fintech Professional (ACCA), and a Certified Management & Business Educator (UK CABS), affirming both his subject mastery and pedagogical excellence. Previously, he served as a Lecturer in Finance at Coventry University.
Outside the classroom, Dr Brahmana enjoys playing badminton, spends his free time hiking, and a fan of dystopian and surrealist literature, inspired by authors like George Orwell, Seno Gumira Ajidarma, and Agus Noor. In his teaching, Rayenda often draws on Aesop’s fables and traditional folklore as analogies to simplify complex concepts, helping students grasp ideas more intuitively.
Dr Brahmana contributes to World Ocean Assessment (WOA) as a member of the United Nations Pool of Experts for the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea. He also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals. In 2024, he was awarded Best Writer in Economics by The Conversation Indonesia.
